El Paso County, CO -- Colorado State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that happened Wednesday afternoon just east of Payton. The accident occurred around 4:34 p.m. on US 24 between Log and McClelland Road.
According to troopers, 20-year-old Joshua Landry was driving east on US 24 in his Hyundai Elantra when he tried to pass another car. The Elantra then collided head-on into an Oldsmobile SUV heading west. A Kia Rio then hit the SUV from behind and pushed it off of the road.
Landry was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver and three passengers in the SUV were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, while the driver and two passengers in the Kia Rio only had minor injuries.
CSP is still investigating the crash, but they don’t suspect alcohol or drugs to be factors in the incident.
