One Killed, One Injured in a Suspected Dui Crash Near Pueblo

Pueblo, CO --One person was killed and another was hospitalized after a crash that closed I-25 North on Tuesday evening. The accident occurred one mile north of Pueblo at around 3:30 p.m.

Colorado State Patrol says that Regina Tarrow lost control of her Buick SUV while traveling southbound on I-25 and careened over the median into northbound traffic. The Buick hit a Volkswagen head-on then went down an embankment off the east side of the interstate.

The Volkswagen also fell down an embankment and caught on fire. The driver of the Volkswagen died at the scene.

Tarrow suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital before being flown to a Denver trauma center. According to troopers, Tarrow was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Troopers closed the northbound lanes of I-25 for nearly four hours. Colorado State Patrol suspects that alcohol and drugs may have been a factor in the accident.
