Man Struck and Killed by Adams County Sheriff’s Office Deputy While Jaywalking on Federal Boulevard

Adams County, CO -- A man was struck and killed while jaywalking on Federal Boulevard this past Thursday by an Adams County Sheriff’s Deputy responding to a call.

The accident occurred at 7:45 p.m. near West 56th Avenue.

The deputy was driving southbound on Federal Boulevard in the left lane when he struck a man in the middle of the street crossing from west to east. The sheriff’s office states that they tried to resuscitate the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators state that the patrol car’s emergency lights and sirens were not on during the crash. They do not think speeding is a factor in the accident at this time, and the deputy did not suffer any injuries.

Both directions on Federal Boulevard were shut down at 55th Avenue but have since reopened.
