Crowley County, CO -- One man died and another was injured in a crash on Colorado 96 near Fowler on Sunday morning.
The Colorado State Patrol reported that the head-on collision occurred around 2:30 a.m. Two vehicles, a 2020 Kia Soul and a 2009 Pontiac Vibe, collided when the Soul crossed the highway’s double yellow line.
Authorities pronounced Augustine Regaldo dead when they arrived at the crash scene. Regaldo, who was driving the Vibe, was not wearing his seat belt.
The CSP said that the Soul’s driver, Stephen Podhirny, sustained life-threatening injuries in the collision. Authorities transported him to a hospital where his injuries are being treated.
State Troopers said that the crash cause is under investigation and that drugs and alcohol are considered factors in the crash.
