Two Men Killed, Infant Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collision
Longmont, CO -- A three-vehicle crash left two dead and an infant seriously injured on Friday evening.
The Longmont Police Department arrived at East Ken Pratt Boulevard and Zlaten Drive, the crash site, around 6:30 PM. Officers found three vehicles involved in the crash: a Jeep, an SUV, and a trailer-pulling truck.
The LPD determined that the Jeep traveled in the left-turn lane of westbound East Ken Pratt Boulevard, while the truck was moving east in the right lane on the same road. A 27-year-old Longmont woman was driving the Jeep, and a man, 33, from Lakewood drove the truck.
The truck struck the Jeep as the Jeep attempted to turn left onto Zlaten Drive. The force of the impact caused the Jeep to roll into the SUV sitting in the right-turn lane on Zlaten Drive.
According to the release issued by the LPD, two men died in the crash. One victim was a 50-year-old man from Aurora, riding in the Jeep. The other was a 54-year-old man of Denver who was a passenger in the truck. The release also reported that a one-year-old passenger in the Jeep sustained injuries that required air transportation to a Denver hospital.
According to the release, the baby’s injuries, while serious, were not life-threatening. Five other individuals involved in the crash suffered minor injuries and received treatment at local hospitals.
According to the LDP, the Weld County District Attorney’s Office is investigating the crash. The release directs anyone with relevant information about the collision to contact the Longmont Public Safety Department.
