Pedestrian Dies in Crash on Northbound Highway 85

Commerce City, CO -- A pedestrian died Monday morning after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 85.

According to the authorities, the pedestrian was standing or walking in the road when the crash happened. Commerce City police responded to the collision and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the crash scene.

The vehicle’s driver was cooperative and gave a statement to the police; no other individuals or vehicles were involved. Authorities do not suspect the driver was impaired by drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.

The collision occurred around 3:00 AM near the 11900 block of Highway 85. Due to the police’s investigation and cleanup of the scene, this area of the highway was closed until just before 9:00 AM.

The coroner has not released the identity of the deceased. Commerce City’s Accident Investigation Department continues to investigate the crash.
