Bicyclist Killed After Vehicular Collision in Boulder

Boulder, CO -- A bicyclist died after a turning car hit them on Friday afternoon.

The bicyclist, who the Colorado State Patrol identified as 39 year old Alejandro Acosta Obando, was cycling on Lee Hill Road. The vehicle’s driver attempted to turn let off of Lee Hill Road onto Wagon Wheel Gap Road. The driver moved into the path of the cyclist and collided with him.

The CSP said Obando was thrown from his bike due to the impact.

Although investigators have not identified the vehicle’s driver, because charges have yet to be filed, they have shared that it was a 68-year-old male from Boulder. Obando was also a Boulder resident.

The CSP has turned the case over to the Boulder County District Attorney’s office.
