6 students, 2 adults suffer minor injuries in school bus rollover crash in Brighton

BRIGHTON, CO — Six students and two adults were involved in a roll over crash Wednesday morning. 

According to local police, the school bus rolled over near East 136th Avenue and Buckley Road about 8:15 a.m. There were no serious injuries sustained during the crash.

The school bus had been carrying six Prairie View High School special needs students along with a paraprofessional and the driver.

The students were rushed to Children’s Hospital Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora and the two adults were taken to University of Colorado Hospital. 

District spokeswoman Tracy Rudnick stated that after the accident had occurred, all six students were able to walk off the bus. 

Drivers in the area were urged to find alternate routes around the crash while local police investigated and performed clean up. 

The incident is still under investigation. Police have ruled out drugs, alcohol, and speeding. It is reported that no other vehicle was involved in the crash.
