Morgan County, CO - On Sunday afternoon, a head-on crash between a car and a semi-truck left one person dead and spilled more than 100 gallons of diesel. The crash resulted in a five-hour-long closure on Colorado 71 northeast of Denver.
The accident occurred at around 2:30 p.m. just south of Fort Morgan. Colorado State Patrol sent hazmat troopers to help clean up the spill. The highway reopened around 8:00 p.m. Sunday night.
There is no information available on the person killed in the crash. An investigation is still underway to determine whether the spilled diesel contaminated water nearby.
