Crash on Highway 115 Outside Colorado Springs Kills Motorcyclist

El Paso County, CO -- A motorcyclist died just outside of Colorado Spring Tuesday afternoon. The motorcyclist collided with another driver around 12:43 p.m. on Highway 115 near Barrett Road.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, a 45-year-old man was driving north on Highway 115 on his 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

The motorcyclist lost control of the vehicle and drove into oncoming traffic. A 2001 Lincoln Continental driving south hit the motorcyclist head-on. The collision sent both vehicles off of the road.

The motorcyclist died at the scene of the accident. First responders rushed the driver of the Lincoln Continental, an 80-year-old woman to the hospital. Her passenger, a 79-year-old, was flown by helicopter to Memorial Central Hospital. Both are expected to survive their moderate injuries. Police have not yet released the identities of any of the victims.

The Colorado State Patrol is currently investigating the cause of the accident. They suspect speeding to be a factor in the crash.
