Pedestrian Killed on I-25 by Alleged Drunk Driver

Denver, CO - An alleged drunk driver struck and killed a pedestrian on I-25 early Friday morning, according to the Denver Police Department.

The pedestrian was a 31-year-old woman. She was hit near Hampden Avenue on I-25 at about 1:20 a.m.

The driver was 29-year-old Timothy Ruggles. He is being held on charges for vehicular homicide and DUI. Timothy has a previous record for driving under the influence.

The crash is still under investigation and police do not know why the woman was walking on the highway. She has still not been identified.

The interstate at Hampden Avenue was closed for investigation and reopened just before 5:00 a.m.
